How a Fixalist visit works
Four steps. Most of the work is yours: writing it down.
- 1
Make the list
Walk the house. Write down everything small. Nothing is too small.
- 2
Call us
We go over it, flag anything outside our scope and book the right block of time.
- 3
One visit
One technician arrives with tools and works through the list top to bottom.
- 4
Cross it off
Before we leave, we go over what's done and anything that needs a specialist.
What goes on the list
If it's small and it's bugging you, it belongs on the list. These are the jobs we see most.
- Patch, prime and paint
- Sticking doors and loose hinges
- Door knobs and levers
- Tub, sink and trim caulking
- One-story gutters
- AC filters
- Light bulbs, high ceilings too
- Outlet cover plates
- Fridge water filters
- Furniture assembly
- Window screens
- Running toilets and dripping faucets
- Washer drain hoses
- Shower door water spots
- Smoke alarm batteries
What we don't do
We'd rather tell you now than at your door.
- Electrical work: new wiring, fixtures, outlets or panels
- Roofing and anything that means walking on the roof
- Fireplaces and chimneys
- Plumbing beyond toilets and faucets
- Remodels, additions and permit work
Book time, not a quote per task
You pick a block of time and we work the list in order. Rates are given on the call before anything is booked. Materials are billed separately.
1 hour
A few quick items. A battery, a filter, a loose hinge.
Half day
Four hours. A typical household list, or a small rental turnover.
Full day
Eight hours. The list that's been growing since spring.
Two-person crew
For bigger lists or jobs that need a second pair of hands.
Who calls Fixalist
Usually the person who wrote the list. Sometimes their kids.

Questions
How much does a visit cost?
You book time, not a separate quote for every task. Call us with your list and we'll give you the rate for the block of time it needs before anything is booked. Materials are billed separately from labor.
How long is a visit?
One hour, a half day (four hours) or a full day (eight hours). Bigger lists can get a two-technician crew. We help you pick the block when you read us the list.
Do you bring the parts?
Materials aren't included in the labor. If you already bought the knob, the filter or the paint, we use it. If not, tell us when you call and we'll go over what the list needs.
What won't you do?
Electrical work, roofing, fireplaces, plumbing beyond toilets and faucets, and remodels. If something on your list is outside that, we tell you on the call instead of at your door.
Where do you work?
Glendale, La Crescenta, Montrose and Verdugo City. We started on the Glendale and La Crescenta line and we're keeping the service close to home.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Fixalist is licensed, bonded and insured, CSLB #1047297.
